We opened The Cutting Bar in 2016, and every year we’re growing. We’ve created a really awesome space for our customers and staff. We offer a full range of salon services and use and love Keune Hair Cosmetics.
Our clients are 50/50 men & women. Guys enjoy the space as it’s not a traditional barber, and ladies love it as they feel comfortable coming into the salon and walk out feeling amazing. We all like to have a chat (and a bit of banter) to all our clients and make everyone feel really welcome. It’s relaxed and friendly. Our clients are our #1 priority! and we really appreciate it when they leave us awesome reviews. We now have nearly 200 on Google and over 2000 on Fresha, our booking platform.
The salon is a beautiful place to work in. It’s clean, bright and airy. It has windows all around to let in the natural light. We have a photography area to take pictures of your work to promote yourself. We’re a happy team that all get on well and work together. We like to bounce ideas off each other and learn from them.
My vision has been:

What we offer
- Basic pay plus commission
- 25% staff discount on retail products
- Have your hair coloured at no cost.
- Every year we have a Christmas and/or mid-winter get together. In the past we’ve done golf, shooting, archery, massages, escape room and this year we are off for lunch at Awaroa Lodge.
- We have an annual closedown at Christmas and Easter.
- All your equipment is provided except your scissors.
- You will have full training on Keune’s colour and product range. There is ongoing training with Keune (online, in salon & off-site in Wellington). A Keune educator comes into the salon every couple of months to upskill us on new products and techniques.
