Our Team

Claire started her hairdressing career in the UK in 2005. She mainly did colour work while working in Salons on the South Coast. After moving to NZ Claire managed a Barbershop for several years before opening The Cutting Bar. This is where she found her passion for cutting, but always missed doing colour work, so opening the business, has allowed her to combine her favorite aspects from Salons and Barbershops. She is passionate about the hairdressing industry and  thrives to learn new techniques and skills.

Vanessa is originally from Golden bay where she did her hairdressing training. She now has over 20 years’ experience working in Salons and Barbershops in Australia and New Zealand. She is great at cutting Men’s hair and Ladies short funky styles. She also understands that not every client likes to talk lots so if you prefer a quieter haircut Vanessa is the one to book with.

Siobahn is our local girl. She has lived in Nelson for most of her life and has 17 years’ experience from Salons in Nelson and Christchurch. Siobahn is our colour expert! She is always up for a challenge with colour correction and she loves creating beautiful hairstyles. Long hair & blondes are her favourite but gets creative with anyone in her chair. She is passionate about making people look and feel good. Siobahn has a fun, caring personality & always like to have laugh. 

Navahoe first came to do work experience with us while she was studying hairdressing at NMIT.  At the end of 2022, she completed her hairdressing apprenticeship and is now a qualified stylist.  Navahoe is a real perfectionist & so caring for each of her clients, we are lucky to have her.  She loves colouring and cutting & really enjoys working with our preferred brand Keune.  This year is all about building confidence, gaining experience & learning new skills from various salon education courses.

Maureen worked in Queenstown for 4 years when she first arrived in New Zealand from South Africa. She has been hairdressing since 2005 and really enjoys cutting, blow drying & Keratin Straightening. Since starting at The Cutting Bar in Sept 2022, Maureen has completed her Master's of Balayage course and is continuing to upskill using new techniques and products from our preferred brand Keune Haircare. Maureen is passionate about her craft, which shows in her work,  and loves making people look and feel amazing.
